PINUP GIRLS ROCK
This tutorial was written for those with a working knowledge of PSP. I use version 9, but any version should work.
Supplies:
Tube of Choice: I used several tubes from Pinup Toons that I bought at CILM. You must not use the artwork without purchasing a license to do so. CILM is closed now but you can purchase the tube and a license at CDO.
Template: I used my Pinup Girls Rock template, which you can download HERE. It is saved in both psd and psp formats.
Scrap Kit: I used the fab Shades of Rion 4 kit by Jill at Created by Jill. You can purchse the kit HERE.
Font of choice: I used Amperzand
Filters:
Eye Candy 4000 - glass and gradient glow
Penta.com - dot and cross
ScreenWorks - close knit
DSB Flux - linear transmission
Let's get started:
1.
Open my template and delete the credits layer
Click on the white squares in your layers pallet
Selections, all, float, defloat
Copy and paste a tube as a new layer and position inside the square
Resize the tube if needed (if you do, enhance, sharpen (but only 1 time)
Selections, invert, hit delete
Do the same thign for the other white square
2.
Set foreground color to # f8bac7 and background color to # acafc2
Change foreground to gradient and set to: linear, angle 45, 4 repeats, and check invert
Click on blue rounded rectangle
Selections, all, float, defloat, layer, new raster layer, and flood fill with the gradient
Selections, none
Delete the original blue rounded rectangle
Click on the gradient layer you just made for the rounded rectangle
Selections, all, float, defloat
Copy and paste a tube
Resize if desired and position
Selections, invert, hit delete
Repeat adding two more tubes
Close off all but your tube layers and make sure one of them is highlighted in your layers pallet
Layers, merge visible
Layers, properties, and change blend mode to screen
Click on your gradient layer again
Effects, texture effects, blinds and set to: 2, 19, color to # c0c0c0 and check horizontal
Close off all but the gradient layer and the tube layer
Layers, merge visible
Selections, all, float, defloat, selections, modify, select selection borders: check the both sides box, anti-alias, and set width to 5
Layer, new raster layer
Change your foreground back to solid color and use the blue from your gradient
Floodfill
Selections, none
Layers, properties, change blend mode to darken
Effects, 3-D effects, inner bevel, and use my settings:

Click on the music bar and move it down a bit on your tag
Effects, Eye Candy 4000 - gradient glow. Glow width 3, and set to medium. Pull the little white slider box a bit to the right...about halfway to the right side, and apply
Effects, Eye Candy 4000 - glass. Use default settings but change color to white

Click on pink rectangle
Selections, all, float, defloat
Grab paper 6 from your scrap kit and paste as a new layer
Selections, invert, hit delete
Selections, none
Adjust, blur, Gaussian blur set to 5
Effects, Penta.com - dot and cross set to: 72, 10, 2
5.
Click on the black circle
Selections, all, float, defloat, layer, new raster layer
Change your foreground back to gradient (using same colors as before), and flood fill
While still selected, copy and paste paper 8 as a new layer
Selections, invert, hit delete
Selections, none
Layers, properties, and change blend mode to luminance legacy
Effects, Eye Candy 4000 - gradient glow - glow width 3, and set to fat
6.
Click on the blue glitter circle
Enhance, sharpen
Effects, Eye Candy 4000 - gradient glow, glow width 3 and set to fat
7.
Click on pink circle
Selections, all, float, defloat
Copy and paste paper 6 as a new layer
Selections, invert, hit delete
Adjust, blur, blur (just the regular blur)
Effects, Penta.com - dot and cross using the same settings used before
Duplicate the layer
On the original layer, adjust, blur, Gaussian blur set to 4
Effects, DSB Flux, linear transmission set to 1, 1, 50, and horizontal
8.
Click on the white squares again
Selections, all, float, defloat
Copy and paste paper 4 as a new layer
Image, resize to 60, enhance, sharpen
Selections, invert, hit delete
Selections, none
Adjust, blur, Gaussian Blur at 4
Effects, ScreenWorks - close knit
Effects, Eye Candy 4000 - gradient glow, glow width 3 - apply 2 times
Add a drop shadow of choice
Click on one of the tubes in those squares
Duplicate
On the duplicated tube, adjust, blur, Gaussian blur set to 4
Layers, properties, and change blend mode to screen
Do the same for the other tube in those squares
9.
Click on glitter frame
Enhance, sharpen
Eye Candy 4000 - gradient glow set to width 3 and fat. Click on the color tab and in the small color slider boxes, change the right slider box to the pink from your gradient colors
Add a drop shadow of choice
10.
Click on stars
Selections, all, float, defloat, layer, new raster layer
Make sure your fore and background colors are set to solid colors (same pink and blue as before)
Flood fill the top left and bottom right stars with pink
Flood fill the bottom left and top right stars with blue
Adjust, add/remove noise, add noise set to uniform, 40, and monochrome
Layers, merge down
add a drop shadow of choice
11.
Click on music notes
Selections, all, float, defloat, layer, new raster layer
Change foreground color to gradient and flood fill with the gradient
Delete the original music notes layer
Click back on the gradient filled notes
Effects, Eye Candy 4000 - glass using default settings but change color to white
Postion wherever you like and duplicate and place around the tag a few times
12.
Click on the Rock layer
Selections, all, float, defloat, layer, new raster layer
Set your foreground color to the pink we've been using and set to gradient again
Flood fill the word Rock
Selections, none
Delete the original Rock layer
13.
Select the pinup girls word layer
Selections, all, float, defloat, layer, new raster layer, and flood fill with the pink we've been using
14.
Copy and paste your main tube as a new layer and position on your tag (see my tag for placement)
Grab your eraser tool and carefully erase the part of the foot that covers the letter K in the word Rock (see my tag for example)
Duplicate the main tube layer
Adjust, blur, Gaussian blur set to 5
Layers, properties, change blend mode to screen
On the original main tube layer, add a drop shadow of choice
15.
Copy and paste bow 1 from your scrap kit as a new layer
Image, resize to 50, enhance, sharpen
Adjust, color balance, manual color correction
In the box on the left, click on the bow itself to set the source color
Click on the target color box and use a pink from your tag (click on a pink spot on your tag in the right side of the box)
Add a drop shadow of choice
16.
Copy and paste glitter 1 from your scrap kit as a new layer
Drag this layer down to just above the background layer in your layers pallet
Image, resize to 80, enhance, sharpen
Adjust, color balance, manual color correction click on a part of the glitter in the left box to set your source color
Use the same target color you used for the bow
Layer, duplicate, image, mirror, image, flip - move this over to the right side of your tag
Duplicate again, image, mirror and position on your tag (see my tag for example)
17.
Copy and paste flower 4 from your scrap kit as a new layer
Image, resize to 40, enhance, sharpen
Copy and paste greenery 1 from your scrap kit as a new layer. Grab your eraser tool and erase a little of the bottom part of the stem so that it doesn't extend past the flower
Drag the greenery 1 layer under the flower layer
Duplicate, mirror
Duplicate again, image, flip, image, rotate 40 to the right, enhance, sharpen
Close off all but the flower and 3 layers of greenery
Layers, merge visible
If it still looks a bit big, resize down a little
Position on the upper right side of your tag and drag down so it's below your main tube layer (see my tag for placement)
Layer, duplicate, and resize down to 75, enhance, sharpen and move to the left side of your tag near the bottom (see my tag for placement)and drag down in your layers pallet so it's under the music bar layer
Layer, duplicate, image, mirror (move position a bit if needed)
18.
Copy and paste the pearls from your scrap kit as a new layer
Image, reszie to 40, enhance, sharpen, and add a drop shadow of choice
Position the pearls (see my tag for example)
Grab your eraser tool and carefull erase a bit of the pearls that is over the microphone so it looks like the pears go behind the microphone
19.
Copy and paste frame 2 from your scrap kit as a new layer
Image, resize to 50, enhance, sharpen
Close off all other layers and grab your magic wand too and click inside the first empty square in the frame. Hold down the shift key and select inside the other open parts of the frame
Selections, modify, expand by 2
Layer, new raster layer
Set your foreground to gradient again and flood fill the selections
Effects, texture effects, weave set to 2, 3, 42, white for both colors, and check fill gaps
Drag this flood filled layer below the frame
Click on the frame now and Effects, Eye Candy 4000, gradient glow set to glow width 3 and pull the slider box to the right about half way
Close off all but the frame and the background layer for the frame. Layers, merge visible
Layer, duplicate, image, mirror and position on the right side of your tag (see my tag for placement)
Add drop shadows of choice to both
20.
Click on the largest circle layer on your tag
Grab your selection tool set to rectangle
Now down at the bottom of your tag near the music notes bar, select around the circle and hit delete
While still selected, click on each of the circle layers and hit delete for each circle so that no part of a circle shows at the bottom of your tag
21.
Add your copyright information and your name
Delete the background layer
Layers, merge visible
Save your tag as a png file and you are finished.

Hi there. I'm trying to do the tut but keep getting a 404 on box net when I try to d/l the free template. Please help?
