KEEPSAKES

This tutorial was written for those with a working knowledge of PSP.  I use version 9, but any version should work.

Supplies:

Tube of choice:  I used the beautiful artwork of Amy Matthews.  You must not use her work without purchasing a license to do so.  You may purchase the tube and a license at CDO

Scrap kit:  I used a totally gorgeous scrap kit from Dee called Guingan.  You can find out where to purchase the kit by visiting her at her blog, Dees'Sign Depot

Mask of choice:  I used mask 1 from Bev at HorsePlaysPasture.  You can download the mask HERE

Font of choice:  I used Mr. DeHaviland

Filters:

Eye Candy 4000, gradient glow
Filter Factory Gallery V, color booster
Xero, porcelain

Let's get started

I.

Open your supplies and minimize
Open a new blank canvas 725 x 650 and flood fill white
Open paper 14 from the scrap kit and minimize it
Grab your preset shapes tool set to a circle, width 30 and miter limit 2
Close off your background color
Set foreground color to pattern and find your paper and select it
Now, draw out a large circle and position it near the top center
Convert to raster layer
Eye candy 4000, gradient glow - width 3, and choose medium under color tab
Click on the first white slider box and set it to color #5d6945 and apply

II.

Now you are going to make your cluster frame
Add elements of your choice, re-sizing and positioning as desired
Remember when re-sizing elements, only re-size one time and after re-sizing go to enhance, sharpen one time
This will help maintain the clarity of your elements
Be creative - my tag is just an example of what you can do with this gorgeous kit. This is your tag so be creative and use whatever you choose.

III.

Once you have added to your frame as you choose, copy and paste your main tube as a new layer
On my tag, the main tube will become part of the frame due to the position and placement of the tube in the layers pallet
On your main tube - effects, Xero, porcelain and use default settings but change blue channel to 0
Duplicate the tube layer
Adjust, blur, Gaussian blur set to 5
Layers, properties and change blend mode to screen and lower opacity to your liking

IV.

Now, starting at the bottom of your layers pallet and working toward the top, click on each element and add a drop shadow of choice - make sure you have shadow on a new layer checked
When you get to the main tube layer, only add the drop to the bottom tube layer and not the duplicated tube layer
Continue adding drop shadows to your elements working to the top
Once you have added drop shadows to all your elements, go back and select the round circle frame in your layers pallet
Selections, all, float, defloat, selections, invert
While still selected, and working from the bottom of your layers pallet to the top, select each drop shadow layer and hit delete
Selections, none
Note:  this is done because shadows should only show on the layer they are on top of
Now, select the circle frame in your layers pallet and add a drop shadow of choice
Hide the background layer
Layers, merge visible
Unhide your background layer

V.

Click on your background layer
Copy and paste paper 13 from the scrap kit as a new layer
Layers, new mask layer, from image
Find your mask in the source window and apply with source luminance checked
Position your mask in its final spot
Now grab your selection tool, set to circle
Click in the center of the frame and draw out a circle big enough to cover the inside circle of the frame - try not to extend past the frame itself
This may take a few tries - when you start, click on the approximate center of the inside portion of the frame
Once selected - effects, texture effects, blinds - width 2, opacity 31, color set to #808080 and horizontal and light from left/top checked and apply
Selections, none
Copy and paste your tube as a new layer and position above the mask layer and where desired so you can see it inside the frame
Grab your eraser tool and erase any portion of the tube that extends beyond the frame
Effects, Xero, porcelain using same settings as before
Layers, properties and lower the opacity of the tube to about 25 or so
Add any other elements from the scrap kit that you choose
On my tag, I added elements 17 (basket of letters), 28 (bear), and 75 (bubbles)
Those elements are above the tube layer that shows inside the frame
Use your eraser tool to erase any portions of the elements that extend beyond the frame

VI.

Add your copyright and your name
Now we are ready to start the animation - don't worry, this is very easy to do
Edit, copy merged
Over to animation shop and paste as a new animation
Back to paint shop
Click on the mask layer in your layers pallet again and grab your selection tool still set to circle
Draw out your circle again like you did when adding your tube
Effects, Filter Factory Gallery V, Color Booster using default setting
Selections, none
Edit, copy merged
Back to animation shop and paste after current frame ( you only have 2 frames)
Play your animation and see if it looks ok
Now click on the first frame
Edit, frame properties - increase display time to 20
Play your animation and save your tag and you are finished

Note:  if you plan to save your frames to add names at a later time rather than adding prior to animating the tag, save the tag as an mng image.  This will keep the tag from becoming grainy when you add names later.  Just remember when you  add your names then to save the tag as a gif image

IV.

Now we are going to start working on your cluster so you will probably have to see my tag frequently for approximate placement
Open element 32 from the scrap kit and paste as a new layer and move to the top of your layers
Image, re-size to 30%
Image, rotate, free rotate - 40 right
position on the frame (see my tag)

Enhance, sharpen
Position under the pink rose element
Layer, duplicate
Image, mirror
Move this over to the left side but by the white flower still

Now close off all the layers that are below the heart frame layer (frame will be raster 2)
Click on each layer that is above the heart frame and add a drop shadow

VII.

Change your foreground color from the gradient back to the solid color and close it off
Select the top layer in your layers pallet
Grab your preset shape tool set to a circle and draw out an oval and rotate it slightly and position so that the oval is slightly over the top heart of the frame like so:

While it still looks like this grab your text tool set at Arial Narrow, size 16 and click on a rounded part of the circle so that you can apply the text on the curve and type out your text
If the text is not centered go into the text entry box and click at the beginning of the text and hit the space bar a few times so that your text lines up where you want it
Once you are satisfied with the placement of the text, apply it but don't convert to raster yet
Go over to your layers pallet and you will see Vector 1 with a + sign beside it
Click on the + sign and you will see 2 additional layers now (one is the text and one is the shape)
On the shape layer to it's right on the layers pallet you will see an eye image
Click on the eye image for the shape layer to close it off and hide the shape on your tag (see my image below)
Layers, convert to raster layer

VIII.

Now copy and paste your main tube as a new layer and position as desired

Erase the part of the tube that extends down below the bottom of the frame
Unhide the duplicate tube and click on that layer
Use the eraser tool again to erase the bottom part of that tube also so that it looks like the tube is coming out of the frame
Now duplicate the top tube layer
On the original top tube layer, Effects, Xero, porcelain set to 50/128/128/0/0/255
On the duplicate of the top tube, adjust, blur, Gaussian Blur set to 4.

Unhide all layers

4.

Select the frame layer
Grab your lasso tool set point to point and draw around the frame a bit larger than the open center using the frame itself as a guide
You don't have to be exact because we will flood fill and pull this below the frame so you won't see the edges
Once you have that done and have the marching ants, layer, new raster layer
Set foreground color to #ffeefd and background to color #c7238b
Change foreground to gradient - linear style, angle 45, no repeats and check invert
Flood fill the selection, selections, none, and drag this below the frame and below the bottom tube layer On the gradient, effects, texture effects, blinds set to width 3, opacity 19, color white, and check horizontal

STOP, DROP N ROLL

This tutorial was written for those with a working knowledge of PSP. I use version 9, but any version should work.

Supplies:

Tube of Choice: I'm using a fab tube by Tony Tzanoukakis. You must not use his artwork without purchasing a license to do so. You may purchase the tube and a license at PTE. The tube I'm using has three different sizes, which works well with the template.

Mask of Choice: I used a 0mask046_LT. I'm not sure who this belongs to, so if it belongs to you, please contact me and I will credit you. You can download the mask HERE.

Template: I used my template 34, which you can download HERE.

Fire Hydrant/Puppy Tube: This is a FTU tube from PSP Tube Depot. You can download it HERE. Scroll down toward the bottom of page 9 and it's dawg6.

Font of Choice: I used Miss Lankfort
